The Course
The Courtney Campbell Trail
The Courtney Campbell Recreational Trail is a 19-mile multi-use path that runs along the Courtney Campbell Causeway, crossing Tampa Bay between Clearwater and Tampa. The trail offers stunning open-water views, flat terrain, and a unique Florida running experience unlike any other.
Clearwater to Safety Harbor
The western leg begins at the Clearwater trailhead and heads east along the causeway, with the bay opening up on both sides.
Open Water Crossing
The heart of the course — miles of open causeway with Tampa Bay stretching to the horizon. Expect wind, sun, and spectacular views.
Rocky Point Approach
The trail transitions from open causeway to the Rocky Point peninsula, with the Tampa skyline coming into view.
Tampa Finish
The final push into Tampa. Teams reunite at the finish line for the celebration.
Relay Format
How the Relay Works
Relay Across the Bay is an officially timed race. There are two distance options to choose from, a 10K race and a Half-marathon.

Registration
Watch this site for the opportunity to sign up for this inaugural race across Tampa Bay on the Courtney Campbell Trail.
Race Day
Each race starts in Clearwater and will cross over the new pedestrian bridge above Gulf to Bay Blvd and then finish on the Tampa side of the Bay.
Fundraise
Every runner is encouraged to fundraise for Relay for Life of Greater Tampa Bay. Prizes awarded to top fundraising teams.
Official Rules
Race Rules
All runners must pre-register either online or in-person on race day.
Walking or running on the Courtney Campbell Causeway/US 60 is forbidden.
Individual runner's time will be published following the completion of the event.
The official race bib must be worn by the active runner at all times.
Motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trail during the race.
Headphones are permitted but runners must remain aware of surroundings.
All participants must follow trail etiquette and yield to other trail users.
Minimum fundraising goal of $100 per team is encouraged but not required.

When does registration open?

Can I walk the race trail?
Relay Across the Bay is a timed race event. Non-competing participants should not interfere with timed runners.
Is the course flat?
Portions of the Courtney Campbell Trail is essentially flat. There is an uphill/downhill slope that may be challenging to some participants.
Are there aid stations?
Aid station details will be confirmed closer to race day. Water and electrolyte support will be available along the course.
Do we have to fundraise?
Fundraising is strongly encouraged but not required to participate. Teams that raise $100 or more will receive special recognition.
What happens if it rains?
The race is rain or shine. In the event of severe weather or unsafe conditions, race officials will make a call on the day.
